About David Henre
Growing up in Colorado running cross country, climbing, bouldering, road and mountain biking, and alpine and telemark skiing (doing just about everything The Rockies provide access to!) helped fuel David's appreciation for what gives him the ability to enjoy outdoor activities:
strength and health.
In 1991, David cracked vertebrae and compressed and broke a disc in his back. The threat that he may be paralyzed and his lengthy healing process after surgery sparked his interest in fitness and alternative medicine.
"Nobody needs to live in pain. I feel very strongly about this. It's is why I got into Rossiter and fitness in the first place," David says.
Experience and Credentials
David was introduced to core fitness and Rossiter when he explored natural healing as an alternative treatment to repair his broken back. Since then, he has worked as a personal fitness trainer at several gyms, including his own, where he was exposed to Rolfing, core, mobility and functional fitness; and Rossiter.
For almost two decades, David has attended classes and seminars for just about every type of fitness concept -- ranging from core conditioning, core stability, functional stability, fitness for coaches, kids fitness, group fitness, balance and stability workouts and kettle ball training. He's been trained by top fitness masters: Paul Chek, Juan Carlos Santana, Mike Boyle and Gray Cook.
In 1995, David achieved Personal Training Certification through the National Federation of Professional Trainers.
David's fitness inception, Core Connection in Santa Fe, was his first full-fledged fitness studio. When he moved to Leadville in 2003, David brought the fundamentals of his original practice and launched Colorado Core, his progressive practice that in June 2010 he brought to Fort Collins.
David became a certified Rossiter coach in 2004. Considered a connective-tissue specialist, he's taught more than 50 Rossiter coaches. He's one of the top 12 original Rossiter instructors in the Unites States and the first in Colorado. In August 2010, he completed the advanced Rossiter workshop, Pain Slayer, which only 10 people in the world have completed.
David currently is serving on the Education Committee for Rossiter and hosts Rossiter workshops across the country. In addition to Rossiter, he provides group fitness classes at The Other Club in Fort Collins and offers personal fitness training sessions to the public.
David the Foot Pain Slayer
David has had strong success healing and strengthening feet, especially plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, ankle sprains, shin splints and compartment syndrome. David attributes this success to his comprehensive understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the feet, and the various problems associated with different injuries.
"I'm trying to get people well and strong," David said. "I want people to feel stable about their feet and ankles."
David's Fitness Philosophies
David values natural therapy as an alternative to invasive treatments.
"Americans are conditioned to think that what doctors say is the absolute truth," David says. "Pills and splints make you weaker. With Rossiter you simultaneously get better and stronger."
Bike racing through the four corners since 1983 has allowed David to craft philosophies that he applies to his practice. "I like to compete for fun," he says. "I try to make my whole life that way. People get so bored with fitness and it becomes a chore. If it's not fun, why do it? Everything that I put into fitness is about being fun."
David believes that everyone should do as much for their body as they can.
"That is why I invest so much interest in people's health and well being."
